PS4 PlayStation App for Android and iOS available in November

During a presentation at the Tokyo Game Show 2013, Sony further detailed the PlayStation 4 companion app that will release alongside the console in November for iOS and Android devices, demonstrating the app's social and second screen features.

Via the Connect to PS4 feature, the PlayStation App will allow users to use a smart device as a game controller or second screen with compatible titles.

Users will also be able to view and interact with PlayStation Network information through the What's New feature, such as seeing what friends are playing, and accept and send multiplayer invites. The app will also display PSN Trophy information, feature chat capabilities with friends and offer access to the PlayStation Store. It will also include Twitter and Facebook integration.

The PS4 companion app was first revealed during Sony's Future of PlayStation conference in February. Sony announced the first official PlayStation App for iOS and Android in late 2010.  It served as a hub for PlayStation news, PSN information, along with social media integration.

The PS4 will launch in North America on Nov. 15, and in Europe on Nov. 29. Beginning December this year, the PS4 will rollout to Hong Kong, Malaysia, Taiwan, Korea and Singapore. The next-gen console will launch in Japan on Feb. 22, 2014.
