The next Splatfest for Splatoon 2 will force players to make a hard choice: Do you prefer your swords forged of Valyrian steel or emitting a white hot plasma beam? Would your preferred mode of transport be on the back of a winged dragon or a lightspeed-capable space freighter?
In other words: fantasy or sci-fi?
Splatoon 2’s Sci-fi vs. Fantasy Splatfest will kick off Friday, Nov. 17 at 9 p.m. PT, according to a tweet from the Nintendo Versus Twitter account.

Splatoon 2’s Splatfests have tackled some ... interesting debates. Previous events have settled the score between mayonnaise and ketchup, vampires and werewolves, and — in Japan — McDonald’s French fries and Chicken McNuggets. European Splatfest players fought over how toilet paper rolls should hang last month, something we shouldn’t really have to debate ever.
Incidentally, Japan is in the midst of another Splatfest-waged war right now, deciding whether fried food is better with or without lemon.

お題は「からあげにレモンかける? レモンかける vs レモンかけない」。
食卓はもちろん、パーティーなどでも人気のからあげ。
レモンをかけるべきか、かけざるべきか、それが问题だ。

As a fan of karaage chicken and fish and chips with lemon, I’m very pro lemon on fried food.
Splatoon 2 is now available on Nintendo Switch, if you’d like to join the debate.
