Sony released a new trailer for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, the studio’s animated movie about Miles Morales, and it just reaffirms it may be one of the most visually stunning films this year.
This marks the first official trailer for the movie following a brief tease in December. The new trailer sheds a little more detail on the relationship between an aging Peter Parker (voiced by New Girl’s Jake Johnson) and a teenage Miles Morales (voiced by Shameik Moore). Into the Spider-Verse will center on Morales’ mentorship from Parker to become the next Spider-Man — and save New York City.
Still, the biggest takeaway from the trailer is its incredible art style. Into the Spider-Verse is unlike anything that we’e seen in the Spider-Man cinematic franchise up to this point.
The official synopsis for Into the Spider-Verse reads:
Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the creative minds behind The Lego Movie and 21 Jump Street, bring their unique talents to a fresh vision of a different Spider-Man Universe, with a groundbreaking visual style that’s the first of its kind. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse introduces Brooklyn teen Miles Morales, and the limitless possibilities of the Spider-Verse, where more than one can wear the mask.
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse will be released on Dec. 14.
