Katamari Damacy is coming to Nintendo Switch. A remaster of the beloved original game, first released on PlayStation 2, was revealed during today’s Nintendo Direct. It’s called Katamari Damacy Reroll, and it’s out Nov. 30 on Nintendo eShop. A physical edition will come out Dec. 7.
The game now uses gyro controls, HD rumble and single Joy-Con controls for cooperative play. Otherwise it’s the same damn good game that it’s always been, and we are excited beyond belief.
No, it’s not a totally new game in the series — we haven’t had one of those on console in a long, long time — but OG Katamari Damacy on Switch? Y’know what, that’s very fine by us.
Katamari Damacy was followed on PlayStation 2 by We Love Katamari, another fantastic entry in this very odd puzzle series. (In a nutshell? Katamari stars the Prince, the son of the giant King of All Cosmos, and has to use a sticky ball to collect as many lazy people and misplaced objects and such as possible. It’s very weird, but it’s very perfect.)
Update: Bandai Namco announced that Katamari Damacy Reroll will also launch on Windows PC.
