The American election for President is well underway, and Democratic nominee Joe Biden has an unusual tactic: He’ll be premiering an Animal Crossing: New Horizons save file, called the Biden Island, on Friday for the Kinda Funny Games Twitch channel.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons has been a hit since its release in March 2020, especially since it coincided with lockdown measures to help stop the spread of the coronavirus. Selena Gomez held a concert in New Horizons, celebrities appeared on the Animal Crossing talk show circuit, and the game became a chill daily routine that anchored millions of players from around the world.
❗️BIG NEWS❗️
— Greg Miller (@GameOverGreggy) October 15, 2020
We've partnered with @JoeBiden's campaign to be the first to show off the official Biden Island in #AnimalCrossingNewHorizons, and we're doing it live Friday morning on https://t.co/tYCVQTyye0!#BidenHarris2020 #TomorrowIs16not15lol pic.twitter.com/Ew3iCjGTHy
It’s not entirely clear what the Biden Island consists of, exactly. Did Joe Biden himself carefully craft this island with the terraforming tools, or did a young millennial on his campaign take the reins? What villagers did he recruit? Is Biden more Raymond or Pietro? Does Biden Island have a fully upgraded Nook Store and museum?
While this is obviously a silly, light-hearted moment in the campaign, it’s incredibly important for Americans to vote this fall. We’ve prepared guides for the process, including for those who will be mailing in their vote.
