343 Industries announced Monday that Halo 4 will be released on Windows PC, as part of Halo: The Master Chief Collection, on Nov. 17. The remastered campaign is the last game to be added to the collection, it said. A trailer for Halo 4 was released on YouTube alongside the announcement.
Halo 4 was originally released in 2012 on Xbox 360, but later come to Xbox One as part of The Master Chief Collection. The story begins after the events of Halo 3, where Master Chief and Cortana were flung into space.
It’s the final game to be added to The Master Chief Collection, following Halo 3: ODST, which was released on Sept. 22. Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, Halo 2: Anniversary, Halo 3, and Halo 3: ODST, and Halo: Reach are all also part of the lineup. The full collection of games is available for $39.99, but players can also choose to buy each game individually for $9.99. (Halo 3: ODST is actually the outlier at $4.99.)
The Master Chief Collection will have to hold you over on Halo games until 2021, which is when Halo Infinite, the next game in the franchise, will be released. Originally slated to launch alongside this year’s next-gen consoles, Halo Infinite was delayed to 2021 in August. However, on Nov. 17 The Master Chief Collection will be optimized for the Xbox Series X and Series S — free for people who own the game already. All games are expected to run at 120 frames per second in multiplayer and in the single-player campaign.
