Supergirl is officially joining the lineup of the upcoming Flash movie. The Young and the Restless star Sasha Calle will portray the superheroine, Deadline reported on Friday. She will be the first Latina Supergirl ever in DC.

Calle, 25, was one of more than 400 actresses who auditioned, and the exact role was not revealed to them until late in the process, according to Deadline. Calle did a chemistry read with Ezra Miller, who played Barry Allen in Justice League and will reprise the role in The Flash.

The Flash has been in the works officially since 2014, with a release initially planned for 2018. The film has since gone through multiple writers and directors, before Andy Muschietti (It and It: Chapter Two) and Christina Hodson (Birds of Prey) signed on to direct and write, respectively. In a panel at DC FanDome in August, Muschietti, Hodson, and Miller revealed that The Flash would tap into the Flashpoint storyline and bring the multiverse to the DC film universe.

The Flash is currently scheduled to be released Nov. 4, 2022. Muschietti shared a video on Instagram of him telling Calle she got the role.
