Is Zack Snyder’s Superman the best on-screen Superman? Did the Mighty Ducks become a biting satire of reboot culture? Is Godzilla now a metaphor for your dad?

Welcome to Galaxy Brains, a new entertainment podcast hosted by best friends and comedy collaborators Dave Schilling (The Ringer’s The Masked Man Show) and Jonah Ray Rodrigues (Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Return). Dave and Jonah start with the Logical Brain, overanalyze with the Critical Brain, question everything with the Interrogation Brain, and, of course, arrive at the Galaxy Brain with a new revelation. Here’s the trailer:

Dave and Jonah won’t do it alone. Each week, an expert guest — from fellow comedians to creators to scholarly authorities — joins our hosts to dig deeper into the topic of the day. Their goal? To discover connections that you never even considered. It’s like a knowledge-driven, connecting-the-dots Reddit thread in podcast form (but, you know, from one of the good subreddits).

To feel the rush of Galaxy Brains, listen to the trailer for the show above, and follow on Apple Podcasts or your favorite podcast app to automatically receive new episodes. The premiere episodes drop next week, on April 22, with new installments every Thursday. You can also follow the show on Twitter for up-to-the-minute updates and highlights.

About our hosts:

Dave Schilling is a writer, humorist, and podcast host whose work has been featured in The Los Angeles Times, The Guardian, The New Yorker, New York Magazine, and other publications with “New York” in the title. He was the co-host of The Ringer’s wrestling podcast, The Masked Man Show, for two years, before jumping to WWE to work on its TV writing staff. He was recently a co-executive producer of YouTube’s Black Renaissance special, released in February 2021.

Jonah Ray Rodrigues is an actor, writer, director, and comedian who developed a show with Kumail Nanjiani and Emily V. Gordon called The Meltdown with Jonah & Kumail, which ran for three seasons on Comedy Central. Recently, Jonah was the lead on Netflix’s Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Return and has also appeared in IFC’s Maron, Garfunkel and Oates, Stan Against Evil, Better Things, and The League. He was also featured in Victor Crowley, Blumhouse’s Pooka Lives, and How to Deter a Robber, an official pick for Fantastic Fest.
