Smash Bros. fans are making horrifying knockoffs of Disney characters

The Woody in Smash looks just a little bit different

Sora, the final character to join the ranks of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s giant roster, finally joined the fight on Monday. And although references to Disney favorites like Mickey Mouse have been cut from the game (with the exception of the Mickey Mouse trinket on Sora’s Keyblade), fans have stepped in by creating their own versions of Disney characters to accompany the newest fighter.

Sora is from Kingdom Hearts, a series of JRPGs created by Square Enix that send Sora and his friends on a mind-bending adventure with a cast of popular Disney characters like Mickey Mouse, Goofy, and Donald Duck. While Sora made it to Smash, no one else did. So, a few fans came up with a creative workaround to add their chosen heroes themselves.

In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, players can create custom fighters by turning a Mii into a fighter. Miis are incredibly customizable, and people have created a few based on classic Kingdom Hearts characters like Mickey Mouse, as well as Woody from Toy Story.

Here’s a version of Woody, which is not only abnormally giant, but will also haunt you.

Here, a Twitter user jokes that “Michael Mice,” has been added to the game. Nice! I’ve been waiting for him to join for forever.

In addition to creating their own knockoffs, players have also been joking that the fighter Duck Hunt, from the retro shooting game Duck Hunt, is actually the closest we’ll get to having Donald Duck and Goofy in the game. Fans have drawn fan art of Duck Hunt that puts the fighter into Donald Duck’s and Goofy’s outfits.

Here is a version of Duck Hunt with a color scheme inspired by Goofy and Donald as well.

The Smash Bros. Japan Twitter account even posted images of Sora with the two.

While these are extremely informal and rough ways to add the characters, the Ultimate modding scene is pretty robust — people created mods to add Mickey months ago, ironically enough, using his model from Kingdom Hearts 3. So while we don’t have any of these characters officially, fans have found more than enough ways to fill the gaps.

The next level of puzzles.
