Togepi and Snorlax Pokémon Squishmallows are available, but tough to find

Hug ‘em if you’ve got ‘em

Two new Pokémon Squishmallows — Togepi and Snorlax — have finally appeared in stores. If you’re looking for a new pal to hug, you’ll want to move fast when they’re released: The Gengar and Pikachu drop sold out immediately, and certain sizes remain hard to find.

If you’ve already tried to buy Togepi and Snorlax, then you’re likely already aware of how tough they are to find in-stock — at least, at their retail prices. If you’re striking out, but really want one (so much that you’re willing to spend more than twice the value), Showcase is currently accepting pre-orders for the 10-inch Togepi Squishmallow for $39.99, a steep markup from its usual $14.99 price. Shipments will go out in late April.

We’ll be on the lookout, as always, for Squishmallows selling at normal prices.

The Squishmallows from the Pokémon Center store will come with a Pokémon Center badge on the back, a distinction that only Squishmallows sold from the official store have. Target, Walmart, and Amazon are three confirmed retailers for several different sizes of both new plushies, too.

The Pokémon Company and Jazwares officially announced the new additions to the Squishmallow line in late February, promising a release date in the spring. The companies shared an adorable video with all four Pokémon Squishmallows FaceTiming each other.

Presumably, these will come in all the same sizes as Pikachu and Gengar, which range from 10 inches up to 20 inches. (The 20-inch Squishmallows are massive!) The large plush lends itself particularly well to Snorlax, who is known for his size. The Squishmallow won’t be as gigantic as the $400 Snorlax plushie, but a better option for those of us with less space.

Update (April 7): The store Showcase is accepting pre-orders for the 10-inch Togepi Squishmallow, although it costs $39.99 — more than twice the retail price. We’re on the lookout for Squishmallows that aren’t surging in price.

A Hot Topic representative told Polygon the new 10-inch Squishmallows are “pretty much” sold out in both stores and online, and no current plans to restock. Both 14-inch Squishmallows were available to pre-order briefly on Amazon over the weekend, too. The Snorlax Squishmallows were expected to ship in May, while Togepi would have to wait until October.

Snorlax Squishmallows are also on sale at collectible store Box Lunch; some stores are still receiving shipments.

There’s no word yet on when the 12-inch Squishmallows will hit the official Pokémon Center store or other retailers.
