Does The Creator have a post-credits scene?

The Creator is a stand-alone story, according to its director

The Creator is a rare original science fiction blockbuster, a story not set in an existing world or part of any franchise. But just because it’s an original doesn’t necessarily mean it’s immune to blockbuster-style franchising opportunities. While the movie’s story certainly wraps up by the time the credits roll, there’s always a chance of an after-credits scene to tease a loose end audiences didn’t expect, a beat that leaves the door open for a sequel.

Fortunately, we have the answer for you so you don’t have to wait around in the theater to find out. More importantly, we talked to director Gareth Edwards about whether we should expect a sequel to The Creator anytime soon.

Does The Creator have a post-credit sequence?

The Creator does not have a post-credits sequence. Once the credits start to roll, that’s it.

Is The Creator getting a sequel?

There will not be a Creator 2. At least, there aren’t any plans for one at the moment. Edwards told Polygon in an interview that he isn’t planning on returning to the world of The Creator, no matter how much he likes it.

“It’s a one-off,” Edwards said. “I really like stories that have a beginning, middle, and end, and that are self-contained.”

That said, he also thinks that bits and pieces of inspiration from The Creator could certainly pop up in his future projects.

“I love the world. I love robots. I love Southeast Asia. I love the future,” Edwards said. “It’s going to be hard to do something set in the future and not have it feel like this. We landed on a lot of things that I really liked. But no. It’d be a high-class problem for the studio to ask for a sequel, but I’m not intending to [make one]. I haven’t got anything planned.”
