It’s way better than getting stung

In Animal Crossing: New Horizons on Switch, wasp nests (which kind of look like beehives) can fall out of trees that you shake with your hands or hit with an Axe. After the nest drops, wasps will fly out, chase you, and sting your face.

Luckily, there are simple ways to catch them and avoid being stung. Here’s how:

  1. Shake trees while with your Net equipped, so you’ll be ready if the wasps drop. (If you’re really paranoid, shake any tree before you use your Axe on it.)
  2. Hold the B button to run away until you can’t see the wasps anymore.
  3. Turn around and face the direction you came from.
  4. As the wasps get close, press the A button to catch them in your Net. (To help with your timing, your Net has a range of about 1.5 to 2 squares.)

You can see this in action below.

Run away in the straightest line you can, avoiding obstacles like trees or buildings. If your path is blocked, you might end up getting slowed down (and stung). For those who walk away with stings instead of wasps, at least there’s Medicine to heal your eye.
