Here’s a map of all the optional dungeons in Liurnia of the Lakes

Jeffrey Parkin (he/him) has been writing video game guides for Polygon for almost seven years. He has learned to love just about every genre of game that exists.

In this Elden Ring Liurnia of the Lakes dungeons and rewards guide, we’ll list all of the optional dungeons in North, East, and West Liurnia along with their corresponding reward. We’ve also plotted their locations on a helpful map!

Elden Ring’s dungeons are optional areas — usually caves or tunnels — for you to explore. They usually have a valuable reward or valuable crafting materials inside. And perhaps most importantly, they’re an opportunity for you to collect runes and gradually upgrade your character’s stats. Lirunia of the Lakes is an early and beneficial place to further build your character.

Not every one of the icons on the map above are for a dungeon (or a cave, catacomb, or tunnel). Instead, we’ve marked dungeons as well as ruins or other locations that contain a mini-boss or a valuable reward (or both). You’ll find them in the following named locations:

Academy Crystal Cave

On the northwest side of Raya Lucaria Academy, you’ll find the Academy Crystal Cave — you’ll need two stonesword keys to get in. The inside is full of sorcerer enemies and a few rats, but you’ll collect lots of various mosses, a Rune Arc, and the Crystal Staff.

This dungeon’s boss(es) is a pair of Crystalians like you fight in the Raya Lucaria Crystal Cave. You’ll get the Crystal Release sorcery when you defeat them and can pick up the Terra Magicus sorcery nearby.

Artist’s Shack

There’s nothing going on at the Artist’s Shack in eastern Liurnia, but there is a site of grace and the Resurrection Painting to find.

Black Knife Catacombs

The Black Knife Catacombs in the far northeast are full of skeletons and crabs, including two giant crabs. Inside, you’ll pick up the Rosus’ Axe and a Rune Arc. There are two bosses in these catacombs, the Black Knife Assassin boss who drops the Assassin Cerulean Dagger and a Cemetery Shade who drops the Twinsage Sorcerer Spirit Ashes. There’s also a Deathroot to collect that you can give to Gurranq, Beast Clergyman in the Beastial Sanctum in Caelid.

Church of Vows

There’s no fighting to be done at the Church of Vows, but it’s an important location. You’ll find a chest with the Golden Sewing Needle and Golden Tailoring Tools here. Inside, you’ll meet Muriel, Pastor of Vows (the Turtle Pope!) who sells sorceries and incantations and imparts a lot of lore. The statue in this church is where you can trade in Celestial Dew to revive any NPC merchants you’ve (hopefully accidentally) killed.

If you visit at night, you might spawn a Bell Bearing Hunter who drops the Meat Peddler’s Bell Bearing.

Cliffbottom Catacombs

In the southeast of Liurnia of the Lakes, the Cliffbottom Catacombs are full of imps, ogres, and another Erdtree Burial Watchdog. You’ll find the Nox Mirrorhelm, a Rune Arc, a scythe, and a warped axe inside. You’ll also pick up the Page and Kaiden Sellsword Spirit Ashes.

Converted Tower

The Converted Tower in southwest Liurnia is one of several towers (or “rises”) in the region. There’s a puzzle to get inside — you’ll need to perform the Erudition gesture that you learn by giving Thops an Academy Glintstone Key (he’s at the Church of Irith). Your rewards are a Cuckoo Glintstone, Magic Grease, and a Memory Stone.

The Four Belfries

The Four Belfries in the northwest are not really ruins. They’re a hub for three different Waygates (teleporters) that lead to Crumbling Farum Azula, the Chapel of Anticipation, and Nokron, Eternal City. Each Waygate requires an Imbued Stonesword Key.

Frenzy-Flaming Tower

You’ll need to be careful approaching the Frenzy-Flaming Tower since there’s a flaming sphere of madness at the top that fills your madness gauge as you approach. The best way to avoid dying of madness is to use the rocks and cliffs for cover — your gauge won’t fill if you can’t see the sphere. Climb to the top of the tower and kill the six frenzied villagers there to destroy the orb. In the tower, you’ll find a chest with the Howl of Shabriri incantation inside.

Highway Lookout Tower

The Highway Lookout Tower in the southeast of Liurnia is full of sorcerers ready to give you a hard time. In the tower itself, you’ll find the Glintstone Craftsman’s Cookbook (3) and, when you kill the Twinsage Sorcerer at the top, a Carian Glintblade Staff.

Jarburg

The abandoned village of Jarburg is on the eastern coast of Liurnia below the Carian Study Hall. It’s full of Living Jars who will mostly ignore you unless you pick a fight. There are several cracked pots and ritual pots to find in the village. More importantly, the village is full of gardens where you can collect all sorts of plants for crafting — and those plants respawn each visit.

Kingsrealm Ruins

Inside the Kingsrealm Ruins in the northwest of Liurnia, you’ll find an illusory door that you need to roll across to reveal. Underground, you’ll face off against a Royal Revenant who guards a Frozen Needle Rapier.

Lakeside Crystal Cave

On the southern shore of the eponymous lake, you’ll find an easy-to-miss entrance to the Lakeside Crystal Cave a little south and east of the Scenic Isle site of grace. You’ll face some demi-humans inside along with some Crystal Snails. This dungeon’s boss is a Bloodhound Knight who drops the Cerulean Amber Medallion that raises your FP.

After you defeat the Bloodhound Knight, you’ll be able to continue to the Slumbering Wolf’s Shack where you’ll meet Latenna.

Laskyar Ruins

In the southern part of the lake, you’ll find the Laskyar Ruins. There are only a few enemies and no boss in this area, but there are a few useful items scattered around nearby. Look for a smithing stone (3), a ritual pot, and an underground chamber where you’ll find a wraith calling bell.

Purified Ruins

The Purified Ruins is in the southeast of Liurnia. Make sure to grab the Shabriri Grape and Two Fingers Heirloom talisman items. You’ll also find a Waygate here that teleports you to the Raya Lucaria Academy entrance.

Raya Lucaria Crystal Tunnel

The Raya Lucaria Crystal Tunnel on the northern (and a little east) shore of the lake is a great place to collect smithing stones and somber smithing stones — you’ll find a lot of each here. This dungeon’s boss, a Crystalian, drops the Smithing Stone Miner’s Bell Bearing that lets you purchase smithing stones from the Twin Maiden Husks in Roundtable Hold.

Revenger’s Shack

The Revenger’s Shack in the southwest of Liurnia is where you’ll meet Edgar the Revenger. He’ll drop a Banished Knight Halberd +8, five Raw Meat Dumplings, and a Shabriri Grape when you defeat him.

Road’s End Catacombs

The Road’s End Catacombs in southwestern Liurnia is populated with imps and several illusory doors. The catacombs’ boss is a Spirit-Caller Snail who summons a spirit to fight for it while it hides in the corner invisible. Your rewards for clearing this dungeon are a Rune Arc, the Watchdog’s Staff, and the Raya Lucaria Soldier and Glintstone Sorcerer Spirit Ashes.

Rose Church

The Rose Church in the southwest of the lake is an overgrown and, frankly, gross church. You’ll have to fight a Sanguine Noble inside, where your reward is the Nomadic Warrior’s Cookbook (12). Once the Noble is defeated, you’ll meet White-Faced Varre outside who will give you the Festering Bloody Finger item.

Stillwater Cave

Stillwater Cave is at the southern tip of the lake, directly below the Lake-Facing Cliffs where you started. The cave is full of poisonous flowers, bats, and Servants of Rot. You’ll be able to collect the Sage armor set inside and the dungeon’s boss, the Cleanrot Knight, drops the Winged Sword Insignia talisman that increases your attack power with successive hits.

Tetsu’s Rise

Tetsu’s Rise in the northwestern part of the lake is very much like Oridy’s Rise in the Weeping Plateau. You’ll need to find and kill three spectral turtles to unlock the seal on the front door. Inside, you’ll find another Memory Stone.

The next level of puzzles.

Take a break from your day by playing a puzzle or two! We’ve got SpellTower, Typeshift, crosswords, and more.
