Hades guide: Glowing purple weapons, explained

Choose a new weapon for some extra Darkness

Choosing a weapon in Hades can be as simple as just picking your favorite. Sometimes, though, Hades wants you to change it up.

In this Hades guide, we’ll tell you what it means when a weapon in the Arsenal Room (the room behind Zagreus’ bedroom) is glowing purple.

Purple weapons earn extra Darkness

Once you’ve unlocked a few of the weapons in the Arsenal Room, one might look different the next time you return. A weapon that is glowing purple and has a purple cloud around it will give you a bonus if you use it on your next run.

When you approach, you’ll see a note at the bottom of the screen with “+20%” and the icon for Darkness. When you equip that weapon, you’ll earn, as you’d expect, 20% more Darkness every time you pick some up. (If you don’t equip that weapon, you’ll still earn Darkness normally.)

Choosing this weapon is a great way to earn Darkness faster so you can level up your Talents (skills or abilities) at the Mirror of Darkness.
