On Monday, Marvel Studios announced the official title of its long-awaited Captain Marvel sequel: The Marvels.
The announcement was tucked away in a sizzle reel for Marvel’s upcoming slate of movies for this year and next. While no footage was shown, there was a release date: Nov. 11, 2022.
Directed by Nia DaCosta, the filmmaker behind the forthcoming Jordan Peele-produced remake of Candyman, The Marvels will feature Brie Larson reprising her role as Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel, alongside WandaVision’s Teyonah Parris who will return as Monica Rambeau.
Rounding out the movie’s trio will be Iman Vellani, who was cast as Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel and will make her debut in the role on the forthcoming Disney Plus series Ms. Marvel. The premiere date for that series is still TBA, but like Monica Rambeau in WandaVision, it’ll be a chance to get to know Kamala before she embiggens her way into theaters. (She’s stretchy, that’s what she does.)
Further details about The Marvels are still under wraps.
The Marvels will arrive in theaters Nov. 11, 2022. For a bigger look at the MCU schedule, here’s our full breakdown of upcoming Marvel releases.
