New Pokémon Snap guide: Wishiwashi boss tips

Use Illumina Orbs to make Wishiwashi glow

In New Pokémon Snap, each of the Lental region’s areas has its own huge Illumina Pokémon. Maricopia’s Illumina Pokémon is a Wishiwashi, who swims around in both its Solo Form and its School Form.

On your first visit to the Maricopia Illumina Spot, you must take photos of Wishiwashi while the Illumina effect is in action. You can activate it by throwing a couple of Illumina Orbs at it.

Wishiwashi will swim around in its Solo Form as a single small fish. Throw Illumina Orbs at a handful of the small fish. After enough start to glow, they’ll all swim off as return in the large School Form. Throw more Illumina Orbs at the larger Wishiwashi to get the Illumina effect, which will cause large, colorful circles to show up on its body. The effect wears off over time, so you’ll need to throw more.

Using Illumina Flowers around the map is useful for hitting multiple Solo Form Wishiwashi with one orb. When a cluster of the small fish are near a flower, hit the flower with an Illumina Orb to light them all up at once.

Keeping the Illumina Pokémon glowing is important, as it’ll pose in new ways, use abilities, or even bring out new Pokémon to photograph.

On your second visit to the Maricopia Illumina Spot, you’ll see more Pokémon there, like Wailmer and Luvdisc.
