Hisuian Avalugg is the last Noble Pokémon you fight in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. The powerful creature has become frenzied, and the only way to quell it is to pelt it with balms while dodging its deadly attacks. Our Pokémon Legends: Arceus boss fight guide explains Avalugg’s weaknesses, how to take on a Noble Pokémon, and even recommends some counters for the battle.

Hisuian Avalugg weaknesses and counters

Hisuian Avalugg is a level 56 ice- and rock-type Pokémon, so it has tons of weaknesses to exploit. It’s weak against fighting-, ground-, rock-, steel-, water-, and grass-type moves. It has a quadrupled weakness against fighting- and steel-type moves, so we recommend using those.

Luckily you can find the fighting-type Lucario and Riolu in the Alabaster Icelands, as well as steel-types Bronzor and Bronzong.

If you don’t have any counters and Avalugg is stomping your Pokémon, you can avoid fighting it altogether and just keep dodging and throwing balms.

It’s best to stay far from Avalugg until your are able to quickly recognize its attack patterns. It will shoot orbs that you can run and dodge, as well as drop ice pillars in straight lines down the platform. Since it has a ton of weaknesses and landing balms from afar can be difficult, we recommend battling Avalugg when you get the opportunity to as it’ll be much easier to land balms once it’s stunned.

How do I fight a Noble Pokémon?

Each Noble Pokémon fight follows the same mechanic. You need to throw provided balms at the Pokémon to calm it down. While you’re tossing balms, dodge telegraphed attacks. Pay attention to both the Pokémon and the ground around you for signs of incoming attacks.

Periodically, the Noble tires itself out, creating an opening for you to throw in your Pokémon to battle. If you knock it out, it becomes temporarily stunned, and balms soothe it faster. However, you can complete an entire Noble Pokémon encounter without ever battling it, if you would rather just throw balms and dodge.

If the Noble knocks you out, you can restart the battle completely or from a checkpoint.
