Team Star is the antagonist gang of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. No matter if you go west or east from the school, you’ll eventually get blocked off by one of the crews, so you’ll need to take them down.
Our guide explains how Team Star bases work and what each Team Star leader uses in battle, so you’ll be ready to smoosh them into the ground.
How Team Star bases work
Each Team Star base functions the same way. You beat up the guard in a regular battle, and then you can only take three of your party members into the base. From there, you’ll have a little less than 10 minutes to clear out 30 Pokémon using only auto battles before you can battle the gang leader.
If members of your Pokémon trio faint or take a lot of damage, you can talk to Clive by the entrance or use vending machines strewn around the base to heal them.
The best thing to do is to have a party that’s either massively over-leveled or has a type advantage against the crew’s preferred type. To help you out, here are the crew’s weaknesses:
- Dark Crew: bug, fairy, fighting
- Fire Crew: ground, rock, water
- Poison Crew: ground, bug, psychic
- Fairy Crew: steel, poison
- Fighting Crew: flying, psychic
After beating 30 Pokémon, you’ll get your full party back.
Once it’s time to fight the gang leader, the battles are pretty straightforward. You battle the leader, whose final Pokémon each time is invariably a special version of Revaroom, referred to as a Starmobile. Rather than Revaroom’s usual steel/poison-typing, these Starmobiles are whatever type the crew is.
The Starmobiles hit hard and have daunting boss health bars, but don’t fear, they’re weak to specific types, just like any other Pokémon.
Below, we list the Team Star leaders in the order you should take them down, if you want to go from weakest to strongest.
Dark Crew leader Giacomo battle
- Pawniard, level 21 (dark/steel)
- Segin Starmobile, level 20 (dark Revaroom)
After beating Giacomo, he’ll give you TM62 (Foul Play), a physical dark-type move that deals damage relative to the target’s attack stat.
Fire Crew leader Mela battle
- Torkoal, level 27 (fire)
- Schedar Starmobile, level 26 (fire Revaroom)
After losing, Mela will reluctantly hand over TM38 (Flame Charge), a physical fire-type attack that also boosts the user’s speed.
Poison Crew leader Atticus battle
- Skuntank, level 32 (poison/dark)
- Revaroom, level 33 (steel/poison)
- Muk, level 32 (poison)
- Navi Starmobile, level 32 (poison Revaroom)
Atticus rewards you with TM102 (Gunk Shot), a physical poison-type move that deals lots of damage and may poison the target.
Fairy Crew leader Ortega battle
- Azumarill, level 50 (water/fairy)
- Wigglytuff, level 50 (normal/fairy)
- Dachsbun, level 51 (fairy)
- Ruchbah Starmobile, level 50 (fairy Revaroom)
Ortega gives you TM79 (Dazzling Gleam), a special fairy-type move that deals lots of damage.
Fighting Crew leader Eri battle
- Toxicroak, level 55 (poison/fighting)
- Passimian, level 55 (fighting)
- Annihilape, level 56 (fighting/ghost)
- Lucario, level 55 (fighting/steel)
- Caph Starmobile, level 56 (fighting Revaroom)
After beating her, Eri will give you TM167 (Close Combat), a physical fighting-type move that deals tons of damage, but lowers both the special defense and defense of the user.
After beating all five members of Team Star, you’ll head back to school to take on Cassiopeia, whose Pokémon are around level 60. Make sure you’re prepared beforehand.
