Pokémon Sword and Shield guide: Where to find Gigantamax Meowth

You can get it via Mystery Gift until Jan. 15

One of the big changes in Pokémon Sword and Shield is the ability to supersize your Pokémon — Dynamax and Gigantamax. Dynamax makes Pokémon huge, but Gigantamax changes a Pokémon’s form, too.

A bunch of Pokémon got this treatment, but one of the best is Meowth, who gets super long in its Gigantamax form. And the best part? If you buy Sword and Shield before Jan. 15, you’ll get one. Here’s how to find it:

  1. Open your menu by pressing X
  2. Navigate to the Mystery Gift logo and select it
  3. Select Get a Mystery Gift
  4. Select Get via Internet
  5. Connect to the internet then hit A to select Gigantamax Meowth Gift

You’ll see Meowth in his original form, but when you’re in battle — either in a gym or in a Wild Area den — you’ll be able to use the super huge form with Meowth’s special moves. His G-Max move is called G-Max Gold Rush, a normal-type move. It’s similar to Meowth’s Payday move, but spits out lots more coins you’ll collect after the battle.

Players who have the Isle of Armor expansion can feed Max Soup to any Kantonian Meowth to turn it into one capable of Gigantamaxing.
