Toxel has one of the most unique evolutions in Pokémon Sword and Shield. While the first half of their evolution is easy — you just need to get it to level 30 — the second half may seem uncontrollable at first.
However, if you’ve made it to the late game, getting your Toxel to evolve into one of the two versions of Toxtricity is quite easy. This guide will show you how.
Toxel’s nature
Toxtricity has two different forms based on the nature of the Toxel it evolves from: Amped or Low Key. The pair of forms have some cosmetics differences and unique abilities worth knowing before you evolve.
Amped Toxtricity sports a yellow and purple coloration and the final ability it learns at level 52, Shift Gear, is a steel-type attack. Low Key Toxtricity is purple and blue and its final move is Magnetic Flux, which is an electric-type ability.
To get either Amped or Low Key Toxtricity, your Toxel needs to have a certain nature before evolving.
Ampled Toxtricity needs one of these natures before evolving:
- Adamant
- Brave
- Docile
- Hardy
- Hasty
- Impish
- Jolly
- Lax
- Naive
- Naughty
- Quirky
- Rash
- Sassy
To get a Low Key Toxtricity, you need these natures:
- Bashful
- Bold
- Calm
- Careful
- Gentle
- Lonely
- Mild
- Modest
- Quiet
- Relaxed
- Serious
- Timid
How to change Toxel’s nature
There’s two ways to ensure your Toxel has the right nature. You can constantly catch them in the habitats below until you find one of the right nature.

To check a Pokémon’s nature, go to your Pokémon menu, then select a creature from your party or box, choose “Check summary,” then scroll to the second to last icon which shows off their nature in the first line. A Pokémon’s nature will be highlighted in blue.

However, if you’ve made it late into the game and have access to the Battle Tower in Wyndon, you can buy mints to change a Pokémon’s nature.
Each mint will cost you 50 Battle Points, but using the list above, you just simply need to buy the right mint for the version of Toxtricity you want. Give that mint to your Toxel and when it evolves to level 30, you’ll get the Toxtricity of your choice based on the nature it has.
