First trailer for DC’s new live-action Teen Titans series insults Batman

‘Fuck Batman’

The first trailer for DC and Warner Bros.’ new live-action TV series, Titans, comes with a very strongly worded message: “Fuck Batman.”

Titans, one of the most anticipated series launching alongside DC Universe, a new streaming service from the comics publisher, is a gritty reimagining of the comic publisher’s popular Teen Titans collective. The trailer introduces a brooding Robin taking on a group of criminals, and introduces Robin, Star-Fire and Beast Boy.

Although Titans is produced by wonder boy Greg Berlanti (The Flash, Supergirl, Arrow), this isn’t a typical CW drama. There’s cursing and bloodshed, and the overall tone of the show is designed to be more mature than that of any other DC series on television right now.

The DC Universe streaming platform will allow subscribers to tune in to new on-demand series and classic superhero shows fro the past, as well as read through the company’s vast library of comics. As we reported last month:

Previously announced original TV shows exclusive to the service are still here — including the live-action Titans and Doom Patrol, and the animated Harley Quinn and Young Justice: Outsiders. But DC Entertainment is also promising a well of classic DC Comics television and film adaptations, a curated selection of “thousands” of comics to read, fan forums, a canon encyclopedia, and exclusive access to DC merchandise and rewards.

Subscribers will gain access to movies like Batman Begins, The Dark Knight and Richard Donner’s Superman (as well as its three sequels) at launch — and to television series like Batman: The Animated Series, Static Shock, Young Justice, Teen Titans, Lois & Clark and Wonder Woman ’77, the latter of which will be remastered in HD for the first time.

Titans is set to premiere this fall. For more on Titans, check out our brief interview with Geoff Johns, where he explains exactly why Robin would utter “Fuck Batman” mid-fight.
